Wooden chests are the first type of chest available to the player at the start of the game. They are, like any other means of storage, used for storing items at a fixed position. Cheap to produce, they can be used extensively early on. Once you are ready to get rid of them, Wooden Chests can be burned as fuel.
Circuit network connectivity
Steel chests, like other chests, can be connected to the circuit network to provide their contents as a signal, as of v0.13. For more info, see Circuit network.
