An Engine unit is used for building various vehicles, such as trains and cars. This variant burns fuel to run, but there's also an Electric engine unit.

Optimized time/item usage: 2 Pipe factory + 1 Iron gear wheel factory → 40 Engine unit factories.

Note: This is purely theoretical. It's highly unlikely you would ever need as many as 500 engines in the entire game. With 40 factories, it would take about six minutes to churn out more Engines than you could need, and setting up 40 factories and the infrastructure to support them would take far more than six minutes, so you would not be saving time.
